IDE hard drive on Motherboard with IDE and SATA ports

Hi pc advisor members! Hope you all are ok!

My motherboard has 4 sata ports and 1 IDE port. Currently it has 1 hard drive connected using SATA and DVD drive using IDE. I just wondering is it possible to connect old 20 GB IDE hard drive to that IDE port for testing?

Yes is the simple answer.

If you need a 'permanent' solution, or for future use, these adapters do the job.

I have Item 1 (IOMAX Bi-directional). Comes with its own power cable and one SATA data cable. Other cables/power adapters may be necessary depending on the system.

Thank you for the answers. I will only use it for testing not for permanent.

If you have Ethernet or have other pc download the drivers and put them on memory stick and install it from there. Let me know how that goes

The IDE port will take two IDE devices (with a suitable cable) you can leave the dvd drive in place set as Master (usually end connector) and attach the HDD set as slave (middle connector).

This will then allow you to extract info from the HDD and burn to CD or DVD.
