If you are building a new PC why not use the new style IDE round cables (80 wire 40 connector). Their snaller area helps substantially in the internal cooling of the PC by allowing greater air flow. I purchased mine from Microdirect Manchester at around £7 each. This is the type I mean click here
Certainly cheap at ebuyer. They are dropping in price as more people use them. At Microdirect now the ATA100 round are £3-53 and ATA133 round £4-70. Good to see that MD now have a newly designed web setup. Good luck with the newbuild PC.
