I've been asked to destroy the data on an old IBM Travelstar Hard Drive. I have a USB 2.0 to IDE adapter which also has an adapter for laptops but this hard drive has a (PC Card??) connector instead.

Is there an adapter i can buy to connect the drive to the USB-IDE adapter?

The laptop is dead by the way....

Also are there any requirements for disposing of the drive?

The drive is physically identical to click here

But it doesn't have all those pins (i'd be ok if it did!). Instead it has a black plasti stip with the pins bent on to it....

Sorted. Looked at the picture again. Looked at the drive. Noticed the power pins are further back than the data pins and pulled a convertor off the drive! It already had one to convert from the pins in the picture above to some other format. Can now hook it up to the USB-IDE.

Spent 2 hour Googling for a convertor.....
