I would like to clear the contents of my pc and reinstall the operating system.
What is the easiest way to do that ?

fresh installation?

Whether you can do this depend on the material you have.
It is easy to REFORMAT the hard drive - this will clear the system.
You will then need an operating system to install
Do you have such a thing?
Tell us more about your computer and the disks that came with it.

I have the XP operating systems disc disk and a drivers disc.

Presumably you also have your COA (Certificate of Authenticity) sticker somewhere on the pc, or with the XP disc? The one with your XP licence key on it; that's the string of numbers / letters you'll need to enter during installation.
If so then you're good to go! Just print out and follow the instructions on the Eldergeek site on rawprawn's link. That's what I did and it worked a treat.

Backup any documents, pics, music, emails you want to keep. Copy to a usb flash drive, external HDD, or burn to CD / DVD.

Format HDD
Install XP
Install motherboard drivers
Install other drivers (graphics card, sound card, printer etc etc)
Install other software (eg MS Office)
Copy back documents etc
