I took out my 512 of 2700 memory and put in two 512 sticks of 3200 memory. The computer will not start - it just gives a long constant beep! I out the old memory back - but still just get one long beep! Maybe I pushe too hard? Have I broken the mobo? It is an ECS Mobo SF2/661fx.

Any help appreciated.

Try one stick in a different slot, or better still get hold of a completely different stick and try that. One slot at a time.

Is it in the right way round and is it pushed full in

Check that the memory chip is
A/ right way round -look at the notch in the pins
and see that it matches the 'blank' in the slot.
B/is fully pushed home, the clips will click forward when the card is pushed down.
C/ some MoBo's are slot sensitive. that is slot '0'
must be populated first.
D/ go to click here download the system checker. this will tell you exactly which memory your MoBo needs.
The sticks you have purchased may not suit it.
it is also true that all sticks must be the same - not mix and match I believe.

Did you make sure you switched off the mains power first - not just the normal power down. Otherwise there is power left to the motherboard, which can damage components, particularly RAM, if you plug and unplug them.
