i have just got a netgear wireless router and i have got my PC working with the wireless system but now i want to add to laptops onto the system as well.

when the laptops are turned on, they automatically find the wireless network and when i click to connect, i have to enter in a password (network key). i enter in the password and it says that it needs to have 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters.

My passphrase is 7 letters and numbers am i doing something wrong??

How can i add the laptops onto the wireless network???

Please Help

Easiest way is to use a flash drive and Wireless network setup wizard in control panel.

Do this from the host pc and follow the prompts.

This will carry all the settings over for you.

Alternatively, access the routers configuration page and create a new security key, such as WPA/WEP/ etc...

10 letters and numbers combination is the minimum for WEP ( A-F , 0-9 ) WPA can have a pass phrase or a combination of characters , you can use an online WPA generator or just use a long memorable word .

WPA encryption is preferable to WEP as it is stronger and not easily decrypted .

Check you don`t have the NumLock on? (Fn Key + F11 to toggle)
