Hi to all Help Forum Members.

I am trying to re-install WinXP to my Uncles Computer, however, after several frustrating attempts, and after trying to repair WinXP and reformatting the hard drive, the installation only gets as far as the installation screen and then freezes at 34 minutes.

I note that the CD-ROM drive and Hard Drive lights stop responding also.

Does any one have any idea what the cause is?

Much appreciated for any help and advice.

Kindest regards

For future reference put a description of your problem in the title rather than your identity.

I had this situation on my son's machine - I went through all the links such as those above, and more.

In the end it turned out that the drive was faulty - replaced it and all was well.

This does not mean that your drive will be faulty too - just another example of this issue.

Hi to all Forum Members

Unfortunately I am still unable to install WinXP,
and still stuck at the "34 minute" installation.

I thought by reformatting the hard drive and a fresh install would cure the problem, but no.

I wonder (as DieSse has suggested) if it could be the PC's hard drive?

Does anyone have any idea what to do I would really appreciate it.

Kindest regards to you all

Hulot
