What exactly is the message - is there a code with it?

Have you tried putting the website into the trusted area of your firewall and Internet Explorer Security?

Let us know which software you are trying to validate. Also when you try to do this does a URL (Website address) appear in the titlebar of IE or briefly in the bottom left hand pane. It may say "Website found...connecting to..."
