hp600 printer install problem

  THE DAVE 22:35 17 Aug 2003

Halfway through installing a HP600 printer on Win95 I get an error message saying "Unable to communicate with printer.

The printer is on and the cable is OK.
I can skip and continue but then eveytime I print It tells me to check the cartridge.
I can skip this and continue but it is a pain!

Obviously the install prog needs to talk to the printer halfway through but why can't it do it?

It can print ( eventually ) but I would like to do it successfully and get rid of those dialogue boxes.

Have you checked that your printer driver is the latest one? If you go to the click here it should check if an upgrade is necessary.

Thanks, I also looked on the HP site and found that you can run hpfcfg02.exe to set cartridge query off and bi-directional off.

Some hardware will not support these functions.
