hp4500 series printer pc cannot connect

  Nonagon 18:30 20 Mar 2015

Had to rebuild W7 due to a virus.

A HPf4500 printer which had been working perfectly was not recognised .

I downloaded the driver unpacked it and so on.

The PC can't find the printer .

If I try Add a printer I get The Active Services Domain Directory is currently unavailable.

The Hardware and Devices service keeps searching for the driver which I downloaded.

Have you checked print spooler is on auto and running in services?

Type services.msc in run. Then scroll down in services.

Seems to be running.

Windows own diagnostic system is saying can't locate driver -although clearly the driver has been downloaded etc.

Open Notepad and type something. Select file and select print. Scroll right or left to see if your printer is recognised. If it is recognised then select it and print.

See if that helps.
