HP System Restore

  Zane22 18:54 27 Sep 2006

I used to have an HP Pavillion PC which had something called HP System restore which could let me return my PC to its original state as when it was shipped new,in other words compeletly wiping all data from my computer, thus not needing to format my hard disk and reinstall windows.

I presently have a Compaq Presario laptop where the performance has tailed off in the last couple weeks so I would like to wipe all the data off as above .

Are there any programs like the HP one where I can restore it back to its original state without having to format the disk again.

HP stored its recovery on a separate partition on the hard drive. Compac may do this so check their website for recovery media.

If the PC is slowing to a crawl it may be time to do some basic maintenence.

Disable all start up programs...
Remove any software you do not need...
Clear out all tempory files...
Clear out any IE cache and history...
Run the windows disk clean up...
Defrag the hard drive...
