I am using an HP scanjet 3670 flatbed scanner on windows vista operating system. It won't scan documents or anything else, but instead, it comes up with an error message which reads:
'An error occurred communicating with the scanning device. Please ensure that the scanning device is connected properly and try again.'
I have tried this again and again but to no avail. It will copy documents straight to print but this is not very helpful because I need to save documents for future reference.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. :-)

The scanner would of come with a disk have you used it as it contains the drivers to run the scanner.
If you have run the disk and installed the drivers have you been to the HP site click here

There is a patch file there for scanning on vista (64 bit)

Thank you for the reply Cheap and I have had a look at the web-link you posted. I tried the HP Basic driver feature but it said my software was already up to-date. When I pressed the button on the front of the scanner, the same error message still comes up. However, I didn't try the patch for Vista (64 bit).

Any ideas?

(P.S. Sorry but, how do I find out if my PC is 64 bit or not?)
