HP Photosmart C3180

For some years I have used a HP 930C printer and been pleased with it. However, as it was becoming more unreliable (and bearing in mind the space taken up by a seperate scanner) I have now got a Photosmart C3180 which gets a very good review in PCA. However, I notice that whereas I could get cartridges containing 42ml of ink (black) or 38ml (colour) the most I seem to be able to get now is 11ml (black) or 7ml (colour). Bearing in mind that the cartridges have printheads built in, this seems to be pretty wasteful. Is there a practical reason for the difference or is it just down to shrewd marketing by HP?
