HP laptop to USB

Simple question (new to this ??)

Just accquired a HP 900 Omnibook laptop (win 2000 pro). Want to know, is it possible to get a PCMCIA (not sure of name) type 2 or 3 (?) to USB (1.1 or 2.0) to increase the number of ports on the machine, it only has 1 USB.

Any help, and where to get such an item (if it exsists!) TIA Alan

click here You can get just about anything you want in pcmcia cards, firewire, wireless, card readers, etc.

Your local shop or pcworld may well stock them (add approx £10).

Am i right in thinking these are OK in win 2000 pro?

are pc cards all the same size/standard or do i need some info..

  De Marcus 12:48 20 Jul 2005

yes they'll run on win2k and all cards that are labelled as pcmcia type 1 or 2 will fit. You'll know as soon as you see it. Most don't tell you if they are type 1 or 2 as both work in pcmcia slots. The only other variation I know on pcmcia is the Mini pcmcia, mostly found in shuttle machines and built into wireless notebooks.

Looking at the instructins (on-line) it says win NT 4.0 does not support USB, whats this?.

sorry for asking "simple" questions. but if you dont ask you wont know. Alan

It's simply stating that windows NT 4.0 (server Operating system) doesn't include support for usb, your operating system (win2000) does.

Buying one of these will over come a problem i have come accross.
The (1) USB works the external CD rewriter fine not a USB memory stick (32mb from Serif) or a Lexmark USB printer, these things work on anther (XP) computer. Alan
