I have a HP G61-410SA laptop running win7,i have just brought a new battery after the old one wasnt keeping charge and windows kept telling me i needed a new battery,i left the battery charging for a good 24 hours but the laptop wont start all that happens when i press the power button is the 3 lights on the front flash together on and off a few times Hdd/charge/power,the laptop does nothing else, the light on the side telling me the charger is working and charging works ok so i assume the battery has power.

HP support page here your your model.

Not amazingly helpful though. Mainly saying try batttery only or charger only.

Where did you get your battery? Have you a link for it?

By the way, I see a Service and Maintenance Manual for the G61 is not listed for some reason. However it's the same as Compaq CQ61 (which is my laptop)

Sadly this time it doesn't help either. But may be of use in future.
