How to split large mpg files into many parts

I have been transferring from old VHS tapes using my Dazzle DVC170 and create very large mpeg files of each 3 or 4 hour tape.

What I would like to do now is to be able to split the files into many parts, maybe 20 to 40 files, before then possibly converting to smaller files like xvid for keeping and watching on DVD.

I can use VideoRedo to create each small file but this will take a long time as I think I would have to create each file one at a time. Is there anything I can use that would let me mark the start and end of each file I want to create and then get them all done in one go?

Thanks

Windows Movie Maker allows you to split files.

Easy Video Splitter is good but can't cope with WMP files click here

You would then have to re-render in WMM.

Agree that would be a pain with large files.
