How to set up a login so progs can't be installed?

Hello al, we are getting fed up with our employees fiddling with our computer settings and installing viruses etc.

Does anyone know how to set up an account in XP so all that can be done is use email and internet and that's all?

If you have XP Pro then by having a domain network you could set groups and policies to achieve what you require.

You could do the same with a Workgroup but this would require each machine on the Network to have the settings set individually.

Its as above

In Microsoft Windows XP, you use Group Policy to define user and computer configurations for groups of users and computers.

Software installation and maintenance options.

These are used to centrally manage program installation, updates, and removal.
