How to self install broadband

My local area telephone exchange is shortly to be activated for broadband so I have been looking at which ISP to use. It's obviously cheaper to "self install" but, what exactly does this involve both financially and technically. I don't want to opt for that to find I haven't got the knowledge and understanding to install it myself!!

If you can microwave microchips and plug in the hoover and shake some shake n vac. Then you'll have no problem installling broadband.

Technical side: Locate a USB port on your computer - A USB port is small and rectangular. Theres usually two which are together...

Now thats where the "Modem" plugs into...

Now when you get Broadband kit there will be a CD, pop that CD in and install the software of the CD. During the install you'll be asked to plug in the modem...Let windows do what it does.

Its best to restart here...

Once you've restarted connect to the Broadband service and enjoy super fast speeds.

Its that simple.

Modem: click here

USB: click here and click here

A site dedicated to Broadband (ADSL): click here

Financial: You pay for the hardware, modem, cables etc and you pay a set up fee.

Then its monthly payments from then on...
