How many of you installed the AMD Athlon 64 Driver

Ok, my CPU is a AMD Athlon 64 3500+ and just want to know is this driver required or not ?

I would have thought if it wasn't supplied with the CPU (Retail PIB) on CD its not required but how many of you have installed this for the AMD Athlon 64+ CPU core.

I have installed this from the Mobo cd. You should also install the 'Cool 'n' Quite drivers and configure them via Control Panel/Power Management/set to minimal.

I also have an AMD 64 3500 processor and the drivers were on the mobo CD so I installed them.

I have a HP 3200+ Athlon 64 laptop which came with the drivers already installed

if you are using the Asus A8V-E Deluxe please let me know, there are some important things you should know about the BIOS & settings.

Ok, will install the AMD Driver.

is the Cool n' Quiet really required or optional ?

  Klof Ron 16:41 19 Sep 2005

It's optional, but as its allows the CPU to use only the speed it needs for running the application being used, it's common sense to install it, It allowed my CPU (Athlon 3400+) to run 6 Deg Cent. cooler. You can down load the AMD PowerNow Dashboard Demo to see the heat and energy savings being made.

I have had my AMD Athlon 64 3200+ PC for over a year now. I would have assumed (rightly or wrongly) that the 64 bit driver would have been installed by default at the factory.

As things go I am getting excellent speeds from the chip with multiple graphics programs open and multi-tasking on the net at the same time. CPU usage is rarely at max. So from that I would imagine that the driver was pre-installed as would be on most pc's that came with the 64 bit chip.

I know someone will correct me if I am wrong :-)
