how do I make a bootable disc for vista without going through some complicted program.

You can't as far as I am aware - you need to have a genuine Vista CD.

Seems that Microsoft has done us again.
The machine I bought had a preinstalled vista with no support discs but had instructions to backup.
I would have prefered to have a disc to let me into the machine,
Many thanks for your time.

What exactly do you require to be bootable ?

A copy of the Vista disc ?
A recovery disc ?

If something like this click here and use Nero or Imgburn click here

My good friend skidzy has the most likely answer to your problem.

Original Vista is on DVD or 6xCD,s!

Sorry for the long time replying.
I require a disc to boot from so that i can get into the sytem if vista fails to boot.

What you need is Acronis True Image, not free but excellent. Backup your entire hard drive to an external USB hard drive. You will then be totally covered for any major catastrophe. Much cheaper too than buying a Vista DVD.
