How long can I make a DVD???

  stuc100 21:30 26 Jan 2005

I have recently make a movie I would like to burn to DVD. The problem is it never seems to fit on the DVD media I use.

The movie is 1hr 50mins which should fit on a DVD (120MINS) and it is 3.9GB as an MPEG file encoded to a DVD format.

What am I doing wrong or whats the maximum length I can make my movie??

try downloading nero, that give you the option of shrinking to fit to disc, mpegs when re-coded to dvd are bigger and need compressing to fit

You need Pinnacle 9 Software. I have just loaded a 18Gb Avi onto a DVD and it shows as about 2Gb after going through the Above

Hi stuc100 - this ain't related to your topic, I found I had problems with Sonic MyDVD especially when a movie was of 2 hours in length and copying it to DVD. Sonic are aware of this as its in their documentation. The problem is when burning the movie to DVD the Voice and Video weren't in parellel with each other. This is really annoying.

I found Adobe Encore DVD quite useful when burning home movies to DVD and Cyberlink Powerproducer havent had problems with the audio and video with these.
