I wish to replace my kitchen light tube with an Activa. It is 70W, 5'10" long. They only seem to have 6' ones at click here

(I shan't be ordering online as Liteworks is just down the road).

Probably easiest is to either ring them up or pop down there with the old one click here

Different company, this is Liteworks, near me click here, offline at the mo.

Usually 6'0" refers to the size of the light fitting. A tube for a 6'0" fitting would be slightly smaller about 1800mm or 5'11" this allows for the fitting at each end.

Also Make sure you get the same Diameter as the one you have.

Thanks, yes, it's T8.

Mesure the actual tube and compare it with the one in the shop. You should find it is the same.

The kitchen one is a bit shorter than me, and I'm 5'8". The bathroom one is a bit longer than me, and the garage one is a lot longer than me (8').

Sorry I can't help any further!

BRYNIT has it right, the 6ft refered to is the size of the fitment, the tubes are smaller.

Really suppose they should refer to them as "suitable for 6ft fitment" but I suppose its a bit long winded so they just call them 6 ft tubes.

Would you believe it, i just measured my kitchen tubes which are 6' but are actually 5'10' if you only measure the glass bit...

  Graham. 20:14 24 Jan 2008

Thanks for that. It's pretty clear a 6' tube is actually 5'10". I think Trading Standards should look into this - were being cheated out of 2".
