How to install a program with a .msi extension?

Hello everyone,my brother wants to install a program with a .msi extension. He has msiexec.exe in windows /sytem.
operating sytem is Win 98 se.

Thanks for info but he has already done what you suggested and gets a message "service already installed" ; but still cannot install prog.

Any more help appreciated.

Not sure what the problem is.

Whats the program he wants to install?

If its an MSI file just double click it. If that doesn't work what exactly happens next?

thanks for reply.

When he double clicks, you get a quick flash on the screen that you can just see it says "installing", but it has not installed.
The program is !thebat_professional.msi but any msi file is the same.

Sometimes you have to right click the file, and then there is an install option.
