how to identify memory cards

How can you identify the TYPE and amount of memory on a memory card just by looking at it (usually with a magnifying glass)..the 72-pin jobs are usually EDO.. but the 168-pin ones can be anything.. its particularly difficult when there is no manufacturers label stuck to it... I just KNOW one of you will point me to a website :-)

I really meant how to identify a card out of system by its little serial numbers etc printed or labelled on the card (or even the little individual chips)

They do a downloadable called the ultimate memory guide in pdf format. The 2000 one was excellent, but I haven't needed to use the latest one
