Following 2 days of pain trying to format a HDD and re-install Win 98, I have succeeded with the help pf many on this forum. One member advised me to make sure I had the license key. Well I knew I had kept everything so would have it.Now I come to enter the Product Key for my Win 98, I find I don't have it.What can I do? I have the original CD but can't find the usual MS sticker anywhere
AJ2S, have you got the original booklet "Getting started with Microsft Windows 98" ? The product key is usually printed on the front of this booklet. Hope this helps.
Don't recall getting such a book with the kit but will check
Nope. Definately not!I have all the papers I got with the kit and the only Win 98 thing I have is the CD case and the CD.Any other advices?
I hope you don't mind me making an observation, how is the key going to be visible in the registry if you haven't got the key in the first place to enter in the registry? Don't forget its a new installation from a reformat.Ermm, I'm not sure if that makes sense.
that makes senseAJ25Is it W98 or W98se ?
Not sure about all this technical stuff.Anyway, it is Win 98 SE
I have only just seen your other post, am reading through it now, for the benefit of other members here is the link click here
AJ25,can't you take your 98 cd to the pc you are on just now, download the file from VoG™'s posting, and find the serial there.?
Good idea Joe but it just finds the key for the XP machine I am on
