How easy is it to totally re-boot a PC?

I am fed up with all the problems that keep occuring with my Tiny Windows 98 Pentium 3 PC!!

1. Scanner will not print with new HP printer.
2. PC will not shut down properly. I have to
re-boot a lot.
3. PC keeps trying to connect to the internet,
even when i have not asked it to do so.
4. PC often disconnects from internet, even when
i have not asked it to do so.
5. PC will not defragment.

Should i buy a more up-to-date PC tower or can i totally wipe my PC of all it's memory and start all over again.
How easy would it be to do this...?

Thanks!

Were you supplied with a restore cd when you purchased it.

Do you have another PC you can talk to us on? It really is quite easy, but if you get into trouble we'll be happy to help. Oh, make sure you have the Product code - a group of 5 letters and numbers.

Thanks! I appreciate all your assistance.

One of these days, they will create a computer that is either failproof or else tells you exactly what has failed and what to do about it...

But that would take all the fun out of it!

It may simply be a single problem such as having the wrong driver.

The only driving my PC is doing is me...up the wall!
No! I don't have another PC.
I am very tempted to totally re-boot but my Nero burning is playing up!!
It won't allow me to drag and drop for one thing.
Which means i will have trouble saving stuff for after the re-boot...

Have you thought about upgrading the OS to Me or XP instead? Your new HP printer may not be compatible with Win98? Not sure of your spec, but my old P2 ran XP OK.
