HiI wish to uninstall/ disable Windows messenger but it does not seem possible from the Add/ Remove Programs tool - is there another way?I have tried msconfig but this seems not to be effective and Messenger fires up when a contact comes on-line.CheersSteve
dalglish,If you're running XP then you can disable it through 'services'.(I think sp2 should disable it automatically)
In 'Add/Remove Programs' click on 'Add/Remove Windows Components'
Ive just found this while searching the forum for posts on windows messenger.Start, Run, type or paste in RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove and click OK.
sorted - thanks guyssteve
make messenger appear in Add Remove progs by editing hideclick heremessenger can then be removed easily
