how do i stop programmes loading on start up ?

hi, how do i stop programmes loading on start up in win xp ?...i just cannor remember how to do it...many many thank in advance

Start > Run, type

msconfig

and press Enter.

Programs load on start up because they are in the 'Start Group'

To remove any program from the start group do this.

Go to 'Start' in that window on the left hand side a list of programs is displayed that are the
'Start group'
Right click on any that you do not need and click on
'Remove from This List'
Restart the Computer.

I think that is a list of recently opened programs not a list of startup programs,

It;s

Click>start>run>msconfig>OK>startup

hi again...i know about the start up list in menu...the following was the one i could not remember.......
Click>start>run>msconfig>OK>startup....
