How do I stop Checking File System from start up?

Hello Forum members,

Does any one know why my pc (upon booting up)appears with the message; "Checking File System on Drive C"? followed by "cannot open volume on drive (or file) on C:"
This appears everytime I start up or restart my pc and it slows down the sart up process.
I want to disable it but do not know how.
I am running WinXP, Mesh Matrix XP3000, 512MB, 160Gb Maxtor Hard drive
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance
Rogmur

Go to start\run and type MSCONFIG look in startup for the program or windows that is running this at startup, and remove the tick from the box
