How do I play DVD's?

I'm running Windows XP home.

I'm trying to play an original DVD using Windows Media Player on my DVD ROM drive. It comes up with an error message saying 'Windows Media Player is unable to play DVD video'.

I have then tried to use Jet Audio but that wont work either.

I also have Power DVD which playes the DVD but it is juddery/stuttery.

I have tried other DVD's with no joy.

I've got 512mb memory & Athlon 2400 so I'm sure it's not a hardware problem.

What's going on/wrong please?

try a firmware upgrade for your dvd drive. Or reinstall it. see if that helps.
