How do I know whether I need more power

I have built in graphics on my Packard Bell 2414 but would like to run a nvidia8600gt instead. I have read that you have to check how much power supply your computer has but am not sure how to do this. I upgraded another computer with this card and it worked fine but it was already running a graphics card rather than built in.

You will need a direct connection from your PSU to run this card properly.
simplest way to find out is take side off tower (power off, power cable out) and look at side of PSU for Wattage rating...

Think its 250W so you will need to buy a bigger unit

the first one would be good enough...
I have the 580 its a superb piece of kit....
