How do I keep internet without landline ??

  PFMarconi 16:47 16 Sep 2008

I want to stop using my landline AND incurring the standing charges BT imposes.
I want to replace my landline with a mobile but keep an internet service.
What is the best way of doing this?
I have a desktop and a laptop computer.

If you go to mobile broadband,it will cost you £15 a month, more than your landline charge, also it will be ok for the occasional browsee. You will incur more costs if you go over your usage allowence, which is very small.
Others may have more info.

Thanks Tullie.

At the moment I have a BT Broadband package of £15.00 per month plus landline.
My last 3 month bill gave me Rental charges of £70 while the cost of calls was £73.
The rental charges are obviously what I'm wanting to reduce or get rid of but am in the dark as to how this can be done.

Take a look at click here

3 offer you 1 GB of data per month at £10 or 5 GB at £15. They also have Pay as You Go systems for similar prices - the difference is you top up when you've used your bandwidth or the 28 day period has expired.

Most Mobile operators are to introduce an email service where you get limited bandwidth but it only costs £2-3/month.

They look reasonably quick as well.

Rental charge for 3 months should be about £33
