I have a laptop which contains a lot of sensitive information. I want to re-format the hard dirve to remove the informtaion completly and make a clean install of the XP Home system.

I do not wnt to delete files or use some other software to delete files, I simply want to re-format the disk.

Please give me some ideas, in Win 98SE it was all very strainght forward.

Hmmmm formating will delete the files!

To format with XP simply insert and boot from the XP CD and select format from the options.

If you know what you are doing then files will always be recoverable nomatter what you do beit full format/reinstall, the only certain way to perminantly destroy files it to destroy the hard disk, but for the average home user a full format will suffice.
