I have a hard drive taken from an old PC, however there is sensitive info on there, mainly banking, account details how can I be sure this is not able to be retrieved when I scrap the hard drive?

Forgot to add the drive is not in PC now as the PC failed and had to take the drive out.

If by scrapping you mean the drive is to be thrown away and never reused, hit it very hard with a hammer, until it sounds like it is full of sand.
