How do I check the amount of data I'm receiving?

I don't want to exceed the 1gig limit now I'm on 1Mb/s, so how do I check what I've sent /received? It was easy enough on my dial up connection.

cdb look a long your task bar you should see two small monitor icons move you mouse over them should give bytes sent and bytes recieved alternatvley right click on your connection icon then click on status

and I don't have the two monitors anymore. Clicking on my network connection mentions packets. I have sent none and received about 22000, but that means nothing to me.

well, the info says an updated version does support xp, but it looks like it could crash or maybe mess my network up.
