How do i change the icon font colour in XP Home?

  SpyMan²°°³ 15:57 05 Feb 2003

I have a flashy desktop background, but it is very light and can hardly see the icon names under the icons as they are white. How can you change the colour of this?

I think you can change it through: Control Panel/Appearances & Themes/Display/Appearance tab.

Thanks for response, but there is no option for this in XP Home

I'm sorry - I'm using XP Home and I've just done it?? There is a section for desktop also where you can change the screen resolution.

right click on desktop then properties click on appearance then on advance at the bottom
then in the first drop down menu it is in there click on icon and then the drop down menu below will light up should be able to do what you want there

Thanks for that - it's just a shortcut to what I've already suggested - but it confirms that it is there.
There is a row of tabs: Appearance, Settings etc. where you can set it how you want.

I did all that before i started this thread, but when i click on 'icon' in the drop down menu, the only things i can alter is whether it is bold, italic or the font and type of font.

Have i to enable something?

Is it available only to XP Pro or something.

Thanks for your help so far guys...

Graham, which drop-down menu are you talking about? I can't see anything for icon.

I right click my properties, i click on the appearance tab and then click on the advanced button at the bottom right. Half-way down the dialogue box is a drop down menu...'icon' is in there.

I'm with you now! The colour changing bit is greyed out on mine.
I thought it was the actual icon you wanted to change, not the colour of the writing under them.
Sorry can't help but someone else will I'm sure.
