How do I change an ethernet subnet mask??

I am trying to connect a modem/router to two computers. Have all the proper cables (straight, not crossover). The router tells me that all ethernet cards MUST have the same subnet mask - 255.255.255.0. One has, but the other, using ipconfig, reports a different no. How do I change it?

Go to Network Connections and right click on the appropriate Local Artea Connection and choose properties.

In the general tab there is a box in the centre with the bottom entry being TCP/IP double click that.

Ensure that it has the button in "obtain and IP Address automatically"

The modem/ router will then assign the IP address and Subnet mask
