Hi one and all.
i have just purchased a HARD DRIVE MEDIA PLAYER, which basically connects to my Netgear DG834N router via ethernet cable. the media player has a 120gig hard drive. the media player also connects to my tv via HDMI cable, so i can play movies, music etc..

the problem i am having is although i have added it to my network (i think) basically the media player connects to my pc so it can see what is in my shared folder and plays whatever is in there.
i don't want it to do this. i want to be able to see the media player as a external hard drive. the reason is that i have a laptop and want to be able to sync the folders on my and my laptop to the media player, so that the hard drive in the media player is a back up and syncs my files between my pc and laptop.
i don't know how to do this. the manual for the media player is less than helpful
any help would be great.
many thanks

it might be something to do with 'auto run' - try looking for a setting to turn 'auto run' off
