How do I access USB HDD ?

I have taken the HDD (Samsung SV1604E) from my PVR & want to see what's on it before reformatting it.

I have a USB connection kit for 2.5", 3.5", pata & sata drives. When I plug this drive in (USB) it doesn't show up in Computer listing etc.

It shows up in HD Sentinel (free version). Everything looks o.k. I've done a quick test - about the only thing I can do with the freebie. It came back as perfect.

I went via C.P > Admin > Computer management > Storage > Disk management > where it shows up,,,, but it wants to Initialize the disk, thereby losing whatever is on it.

For the moment, I just want to open it to see what's on it. How do I find it, and open it please ? cheers

Windows won't recognize .pvr files, you need to use a converter if you want to view them.

Make and model of PVR?

PVRs use a form of linux.

Hi guys,

The PVR is a Topfield 5800. I know it records files as .rec,,,,, so they can't be played on normal players,,, so we have to alter them.

It seems that the rest of the 'format' is the same.

Its a shame that I can't 'read' it. Thanks for the help.

Read the drive

More toppy tools

VLC player will read and convert .rec files
