How did all this get in my registry?

After deleting about a dozen Registry entries with 'dialer' in the title, and seeing a lot of porn sites in the same areas which I also deleted, I went in search of entries containing the S word. There must have been 30 - 40. They were all web addresses without the 'WWW'. I've never been to any, so how come they're in the Registry?

Is there any-one else who could have used the PC at some time?

Have you tried a spyware removal tool? Perhaps there is some nasty lurking on you PC that you caught from a non sex site?

click here for a site i got from another thread. Downloaded ad ware from the link and it found 13 things that my virus prog was missing.

Fear not. I also have them though I don't visit any shady sites. I reckon it's part of SpywareBlaster's list of blocked sites/diallers/cookies. G

be careful removing reg entries based on a find next for 'dialer' or 'sex' you may actually delete something you shouldnt from a list of dodgy sites spywareblaster or spyybot uses to check against.

you may find a long list of dodgy sites like coolwebsearch and sexnow etc. i would not delete these either if they are listed in the key below as i think they are needed but one of the anti spyware tools above,i may be wrong though.

check out 'hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\internet settings\zonemap\domains'

I have Spybot and in the key you indicated there is a very long list of sites.

If you think about it all the variuos anti crap programs have to keep a list of the stuff they are looking for somwhere (so they will know it when they find it). After all you can't search for somthing if you dont know what it is you are looking for. perhaps a visit to the home page of the various progs you use is called for, so you can ask them if this stuff is 'theirs'.

Mister Splendid©®. as above im only guessing this list is used as part of some anti spyware software but im not sure which one uses it as i have spybot, adaware, spywareblaster and a2 installed with zonealarm.

as three of us have this list in the registry it looks likely this is what it could be.
