How to delete Windows XP from a partition.

Hi, I am wanting to delete a Windows XP installation from a partition on my hard drive. I had wondered about going into Disk Management and just deleting the parition itself from there.

I was wondering if this was the correct way to do it as I would hate to do something wrong and mess it up.

Thanks in advance

Aidan

just format the partition if there is nothing else on it you want to keep.

I am just thinking, I am wanting to install another OS on that partition so if I just format it I should be able to just wrtie straight onto that partition shouldn't I ?

There is a small problem. The windows XP installation which I 'deleted' is still appearing as a boot option. I tried deleting the partition it was on but it still occurs...

Thanks in advance

Aidan

You need to edit the boot.ini file

Are you using XP home > XP pro > XP media centre?

If you use media centre:-

control panel > system > advaced > startup and recovery > settings > system startup > edit

Edit notepad to read click here

If you use home or pro, post back.

Sorry for the delay in a response...

I am using XP Home and I see you have posted a screenshot for that. Thanks.

I wondered if I had to alter trhe boot.ini file.

Thanks

Aidan.
