The hidden partition will contain the restore files for the PC, are you sure you want to delete?
There will be noway to recover the PC if you do.

Is your drive formated NTFS or FAT32?

If fat32 then boot with a WIN98 boot disk and run FDISK to delete all partitions on the drive.

You could make use of PTEDIT (16 bit version) or PTEDIT32 (32 bit version)from Symantec to double check though and if a hidden partition is found you can unhide it with the utility. They can both be found and downloaded from:

Format does not remove Partitions. It removes Files of it. You need a third Party Program to Remove it Like Acronis Disc Director Suit 10

Not to Forget, that it's not just Windows that is on that Partition but Software and all the Hardware Drivers for your Computer

I would leave the recovery partition alone.

What happens when you try to run the recovery CD?

Normally the recovery would format the partition windows is on and then restore a image from when it wa first bought.

This would get rid of any viruses.

Of course you would then need to download all the updates.

When trying to run the recovery cd the recovery screen flashes up for about 1 second then it comes up with "unable to determine BIOS lock contact manufacturer"
