How do I defrag my main drive "C"? All the other drives can be "defrag" but not "c". System is XP with all the updates.
When I try to defrag "c" I get - "Please run Chkdsk /F." When I try to run chkdsk ( without f) I get a warning no /f parameter. If I try to run it with /f it just flashes a box (too quick to see details).
To run chkdsk, go to Start > Run and type in CMD and click OK. When the black screen appears, type in: chkdsk /f and press the Return key on your keyboard. It will tell you that C: drive is in use and ask if you want to schedule chkdsk to run at the next boot up, choose yes.
