How to close everything?

Is there a keystroke combination that will close all open programs and windows at once, and take you straight back to the desktop? For example, if you have several examples of IE and two or three other programs all running, can you just close them all at once with a combination of keys?

All at the same time not as far as I am aware.
However Alt + F4 will close programs one by one.

Alt + F4 closes them all one by one

If you have several windows of a programme open (for example several word docs. or several IE windows)you can right click the programme on the taskbar and select close group, rather than closing them individually.

Thanks to all. None of those seem to do exactly what I wanted, but they're all useful and a good learning experience!

I'll leave the topic open a bit longer, in case anyone else has some interesting suggestions.
