How to check bios capacity?

  portofcall 00:55 24 May 2007

Everest Home edition informs me that my bios is from 2002. Attempting to replace hard drive with 80gb to 320gb. Suggested that I find out bios capacity. Ok, how do you go about it? Also, do not see slot for second hard drive (slave). Am guessing that just replacing old hard drive with new is a bit naive. Hmmm. Old dog new tricks me thinks. Am I on right path to new Hard Drive happiness? Thanks, Skip

I would avoid flashing (updating) your bios unless it's absolutely necessary, and it usually isn't.

It should be an easy job to add a second hard drive, but what kind of connection does your motherboard have - SATA (narrow cable) or IDE (ribbon cable)? What's your motherboard model?

Alternatively, you could wimp out of the internal fiddling and just buy a big external hard drive, transfer all your data to that and leave your small internal hard drive with just the operating system and programs.
