how can u connect a vcr to a laptop?

I have found some old recordings taking from a my camcorder that i have on tape, is there a way i can connect the vcr to my laptop and record the videos. i am running windows xp and my laptop has an s-video and a external vga port on it.

s-video and vga are like;y to be output only, you probably need and external capture card, have a read click here

As Fruit Bat /\0/\ says, you will probably need a capture unit.

I use the Dazzle Fusion capture unit which is USB. Unfortunately, it appears to have been discontinued now.

But there are plenty of earlier threads on this subject. Just type vhs to dvd in the Forum Search at the top.

Do you find it ok. I have heard mixed reports about it. But I always find that the people who have them give a more realistic picture of its usefulness.
