How Can I stop Microsoft Updates showing Up.

In the last week I have updated Microsoft Windows,Office,Outlook at least 10 times for different programs.

It still keeps asking me for extra updates which
I have not installed such as Excell, Works etc
which I have never installed from the original disks etc.

When it tries to download all the programs I wish to update in every case it fails & the programs I want I have to manually download & then install which is no problem. But it keeps asking me to update Excell,Works etc which I do not want.

How can I stop it asking me.

Have you turned off automatic updates in Control Panel?

When I go into control panel & stop automatic updates it comes up with a little red ring with a cross in it in my bottom right panel on screen which if it stops there will be just another irritation. Should it go away I wonder.
When the update yellow box came up previously it would not even let me click on it and it just sat there as if it was locked up.

The other way is Notify Me Of Updates but do not Install - you can then choose which updates etc to download by clicking on the yellow icon>Customise button.

Once you have made the selection(s), afterwards a box will appear and you will be able to tick the box to not be notified again of any unwanted updates.

I see that Stuartli has answered the question as to how to hide unwanted updates. Good luck.
