How can I cut a scene from a home made DVD?

Hi Forum,

My friend has sent me a DVD he made of our recent holiday.

The DVD is in the usual VOB files.

There is one section I would like to cut from the DVD and turn into MPEG so I can email to another friend who can then play it on their computer.

Is there any way I can do this?

Thanks :-)

You will need to use a video editor (such as Pinnacle Studio) and `capture` the video completely. Then simply `edit` (cut out) the sequence you want and save to a separate file - or delete that you don`t want and save the bit you do.

Load the saved section and save it as MPEG or, if you deleted the bit you didn`t want, simply save as an MPEG.

You can also use the features of the editor to add whatever titles/effects you want as well.
