Can I block a certain web-site from ever coming on to my computer?

I get these awful ads from "New offers"

There must be a way.
(Parents can block porn sites.)

are you wanting to stop a specific web site or to stop pop ups ? and are you getting a lot of unwanted ads ?

If I could prevent the site:
best of the web
that would solve the problem.

Those annoying ads ONLY come up after
"best of the web" .

I have broadband. windows 98 2nd edition.

If it's only one site you want to restrict, enter it's URL into your Restricted Sites list in your web browser.

does your browser keep getting directed TO that web site?

Any decent toolbar that blocks them as mentioned above generally block most pop ups and are available for free, also most Anti Virus software such as Norton and McAffee do stop them so if you have one of these installed check to see if you can get that to do it.

NB. "Best of the Web" sounds like it could be a program that has been installed as a sponsor programme from another programme you've installed, check your "Add & Remove" programs list.

or; to put it another way, maybe you have gotten infected by something, ; does the browser get hijacked? you get taken to that page even if you have not requested it?

I almost have it solved.
I went to content advisor.
But now it blocks ALL sites.
It will not allow me to go anywhere now (not even to my home page) UNLESS I type in that password which I gave to content advisor.

If I knew a bit more, I think I could just block the annoying sites.

I was taken to that page EVERY time (but only when) I OPEN my browser. ofthe web. then I am taken to... new offers.

I never request either site.
Then....the new offers keeps coming up every once in a while.
