how to back up the Registry keys in windows 98

a friends computer i have looked at will not let him update windows so i did some research and found this pageclick here anyway before i go in all guns blazing i would like a back up plan if all goes wrong many thanks ps its running on windows 98

Choose 'export' and 'all' range to b/up, then when icon is double-clicked registry will revert back.

dibblydufuss, Just a little tip.

In error it is possible to just export a part of the registry.

You must make sure that the registry is NOT expanded when you export it.

Win98se Creates five default Registry backups, that you can get at by going to DOS prompt when you start the computer and Typing SCANREG /RESTORE. If you have a Problem you should not keep trying to start the Computer, You should do it once, with the above. Otherwise you will us up all your shells in one go. i.e. none left to shoot
